Comments Said Not to Save My Toxic Childhood Sweetheart, I Chose Cambridge Chapter 06

A soft thud echoed as one SAT Admission Ticket slipped out from under her oversized hooded sweatshirt and hit the asphalt.

One ticket fell, then another, then dozens more spilling out like a collapsing stack of cards. All forty-four remaining exam tickets scattered across the pavement at her feet.

Every student and their parent stood frozen, even the County Sheriff Deputies stared in complete shock.

Mr. Halewell’s gaze bore into Seraphina, his voice thick with disappointment.

“What were you thinking? You hid every single exam ticket under your clothes, making all of your classmates scramble around the bus like fools. You’ve ruined the entire Top Honors Cohort class’s SAT chances today-are you satisfied now?”

Seraphina crumpled to the ground, stammering uselessly.

“No, it’s not like that at all…”

A deputy stepped directly in front of her..

“Seraphina. You need to come with us for questioning.”

“On what grounds?” Her voice shook, tears welling up but never spilling down her cheeks. “I didn’t break any laws.”

“You knowingly hid official SAT entry slips to disrupt state testing operations, disrupting official state testing operations. We’ll sort out all details back at the station.”

The deputies wasted no time, hauling her roughly upright from the pavement.

“Kael! Kael, help me! Talk to the deputies and explain this was just a game!” Seraphina screamed over her shoulder, dropping her fake soft demeanor completely.

“Mr. Halewell, I’m sorry! I only wanted a fun senior memory for everyone-please get them to let me go!”

Mr. Halewell tried to step forward to negotiate, but a deputy blocked his path firmly.

“Step back-don’t obstruct official police work.”

The remaining classmates exchanged uneasy glances.

“Elowen was telling the truth the whole time?”

“Seraphina tricked all of us. She had every ticket hidden on her body while we wasted hours searching.”

“She kept cheering us on while we ran around like idiots-she thought our panic was funny”

Angry voices grew louder and sharper.

One boy shoved Jasper hard in the shoulder.

“You knew this the whole time, didn’t you? You helped her lie to all of us!”

“I didn’t,” Jasper mumbled, his voice weak and unconvincing. “I thought it was just a harmless.

game…

“A game? You tore Elowen’s exam ticket up as part of that ‘harmless game’?”

He fell silent, unable to defend himself.

Kael finally processed the full reality of the scattered tickets on the ground, finally seeing how blind he’d been to every one of Seraphina’s manipulative stunts [Wait-why are the deputies taking Seraphina away?]

“I didn’t think high school drama would involve actual county law enforcement.”

“Quit complaining-online platforms aren’t a loophole to break official exam rules.”

“Where’s Kael? Why isn’t he using his family’s wealth to bail her out?”

“Does anyone still see Seraphina as the main character of this story?”

“Elowen’s the real protagonist here-glad someone’s finally getting revenge on the blind, self-absorbed male lead.”

The live chat comments flipped their stance completely within minutes.

Before I could process the sudden shift in public opinion, Kael rushed straight up to me.

“Elowen, I’m so sorry. Give me one gap year to fix everything. I’ll fly straight to Haverthorp once I graduate to win you back.”

I pulled my arm free from his reach without hesitation.

“Are you serious? All the years we spent as childhood best friends-you burned every bit of that trust to the ground.”

“You told me I suffocated you with constant studying reminders, that I had no right to hover over your plans.”

“We don’t have anything left between us anymore.”

I turned to bow my head toward Mr. Halewell.

“Sir, I tried my absolute best to stop all of this. I couldn’t change their choices.”

Mr. Halewell patted my shoulder gently.

“This isn’t your fault. I’m endlessly proud of you. The whole world’s wide open for you now.”

I said my goodbye to him, turned my back on the screaming, chaotic crowd, and walked away. of their drama mattered to me anymore.
