My Alpha Said Get Out—So I Did Chapter 05
The moment Silas’s words fell, every guest in Moonlit Hall froze.
Tessa, too, looked as though she’d been startled, her steps halting in place.
Tears quickly welled up in her eyes, and her voice trembled.
“Alpha Silas, I… I don’t know either.
This morning, the ceremony planner contacted me.
She said Miss Hart had someone deliver the wedding dress to me.
She also said today’s ceremony would proceed as planned.
I thought…” She bit her lip, tears spilling down her cheeks one by one. “I thought this was Miss Hart’s wish.”
But the next second, the large screen behind the raised platform suddenly lit up.
The slideshow of photos of Silas and me that had been playing on a loop was instantly replaced by a video of last night’s fireworks show.
Silver-blue fireworks blossomed across the night sky.
Those words—[Happy Birthday, Tessa Blythe]—were so painfully clear they stung the eyes.
Then, one by one, the comments began scrolling across the screen.
[Please, childhood sweetheart, just let go.]
[Stop standing between Alpha Silas and Tessa.]
[Give the wedding dress back to the ones who are truly in love.]
The entire wedding banquet fell into dead silence.
The color drained from Silas’s face, inch by inch.
And Tessa, still standing in place, turned deathly pale.
Silas’s father, the elder Alpha Alistair Calder, could barely contain his fury.
He seized the nearest wine glass and hurled it straight at Silas.
“You bastard!
What have you done?”
The glass struck Silas on the temple, then rolled down his shoulder and shattered across the floor.
Silas didn’t dodge.
His eyes remained locked on the screen.
Tessa rushed forward in a panic.
“Alpha Silas, are you all right?” She had just raised her hand to touch his forehead—when Silas smacked her hand away.
His dark eyes were like ink, cold and terrifying.
“Where has Liora gone?”
Tessa had never seen Silas so angry.
Her body trembled instinctively.
“I really don’t know.
I don’t know how things turned out this way…”
Before she could finish, my face suddenly appeared on the screen.
I was sitting before the camera.
Behind me was the study at the Silverpine Pack house.
My face held a very faint, very light smile.
“I’ve seen all the comments and the video online.
I’ve thought about it carefully.
Maybe I’ve been the one who was too immature all along.
It was my clinging that kept two people who are truly in love from being together.
So I’ve decided to return this wedding—the one that should have been yours—back to you.”
On the screen, my voice was very calm.
But only I knew how long it had taken me to record that video.
By the end, my voice had nearly broken into sobs.
Because I still didn’t want to bless them.
Not really.
Why should Silas get to turn my life upside down, and then spend the rest of his life with the person he truly loved?
But my mother, Marianne, had told me—if there are words you want to say and you don’t speak them, they will eventually turn into a terrible obsession.
I didn’t want to find myself, late on some sleepless night, remembering my first love that had a beginning but no end—remembering Silas Calder, the one I’d loved for so many years.
So I looked into the camera and went on: “One more thing.
I want to apologize for all those years I was immature, for always clinging to you.
Silas Calder.
From now on, I will never cling to you again.
I know you never liked listening to me.
You always thought I was too loud.
But today, I’ll be loud one last time.
I wish you and Tessa a long life together, a lifetime of love.
And I wish myself—that I meet someone who truly loves me.”
The video ended there.
The entire Moonlit Hall was so silent you could hear a pin drop.
Silas stared at the final frame frozen on the screen.
Something slammed into his chest.
He stumbled half a step backward.
He couldn’t believe it.
I had really let him go.
He couldn’t believe I would give up this bonding ceremony—the one I’d looked forward to for so many years—so easily.
A panic he had never felt before surged in his eyes.
The next second, he wheeled on Tessa.
“Tessa Blythe.
What did you do to Liora?”
Tessa froze.
“I didn’t do anything.
I don’t know why Miss Hart would say that…”
Before she could finish, Silas’s mother, Evelyn Calder, was already storming forward, furious.
She raised her hand and slapped Tessa hard across the face.
“What are you, just some Omega?
Who gave you permission to wear the wedding dress I personally had custom-made for Liora?
Who gave you the nerve to come here flaunting yourself in it?”
The slap turned Tessa’s face to the side.
Tears quickly welled in her eyes.
She looked at Silas, her voice trembling.
“Alpha Silas, I really don’t know…”
Evelyn slapped her again.
“You think you’re worthy of even saying his name?
Let me tell you—as long as I draw breath, a scheming Omega like you who seduces her own boss will never set foot through the doors of the Calder Family!”
With that, she turned and delivered a crisp slap across Silas’s face.
The sound was so sharp that every guest drew a collective gasp.
“Silas Calder.
What did Liora ever do to wrong you?
How could you treat her like this!
If there was someone else in your heart, why did you stay with her?”
Silas’s throat moved, but he couldn’t answer.
Back when he’d proposed being with Liora, it was because he didn’t want to waste time searching for a mate.
And back then, the only one around him he was familiar with was her.
Besides, he’d gotten used to Liora chattering in his ear every day.
Used to her preparing his meals.
Used to her arranging everything for him.
Used to her being the one to bow her head first the moment he gave her the cold shoulder.
And so he’d thought, since there were no other options, he might as well just keep living like this.
But it was only now that he dimly realized: Liora wouldn’t wait for him forever.
“Mom,” Silas said, his voice hoarse. “I never thought about marrying anyone else.”
Evelyn let out a cold, incredulous laugh.
She looked at him with icy eyes.
“You never thought about it?
Then did she set off those fireworks herself just to frame you?
And those comments online—did she buy those herself just to hurt Liora?
You put Tessa in charge of the ceremony.
You let her try on Liora’s wedding dress.
And now you tell me you never thought about it?
Silas, what exactly did you take Liora for?”
Silas stood where he was, his face alarmingly pale.
Alistair spoke up coldly as well: “Decades of friendship between our family and the Hart Family—nearly destroyed by you alone, all because of a whore Omega.
You’d better think hard about what you’ve done.
Clean up this mess.
Then go apologize to Liora yourself.”
