Chapter 1
The Blood Heiress They Sent to Her Death 8
Chapter 8
Mira stared at him. The tears froze on her face. This man who had whispered love, who had promised her a
throne was now volunteering to be her executioner.
“CORVIN!” Her scream was jagged as broken glass. “You MONSTER! How can you do this to me?!”
“EVERYTHING was YOUR plan! You told me to claim the Bloodright! You told me to steal the bloodstone! You
told Old Marta to corrupt the water! The treason letters -YOU forged them!”
Her voice spiraled, reckless, shredding every last thread of their conspiracy. “You said once I became Blood
Heir, you would marry me and we would rule the Night Court together! Then we would purge House
Blackthorn -every last one -and you would wear the Elder’s crown! And now that it has collapsed, you want
me to carry the weight alone?! DREAM ON!”
Corvin’s face went white, then gray. “You are raving! I NEVER said those things!”
“Raving?” Mira laughed -a wild, shattered sound. Tears and spittle ran down her face. “Corvin, did you think
you left no trail?”
“You have three thousand rogue soldiers hidden in the Thornfield borderlands, drilling in secret every night!
You have been treating with House Thornfield’s envoys -you promised them half our territories the moment
you seized power! You said once you wore the crown, you would execute Seraphina first, then the Elder, then
every Blackthorn from the oldest lord to the youngest child!”
“Corvin -you wolf-hearted, black-souled BASTARD! May the ancestors curse your name forever!”
“SILENCE HER!” Corvin lunged forward, hands reaching for her throat.
“GUARDS -RESTRAIN HIM!” The Elder’s voice was a killing wind. Two guards seized Corvin and pinned him to
the floor. He thrashed, his face the color of a corpse, his eyes rolling with terror.
“My Lord-she is insane! She wants to drag me down with her!”
“Insanity, is it?” I let myself smile, cold and sharp. “Father -send riders to the Thornfield border. Let us see if
three thousand soldiers wait where Mira says they do.”
The Elder nodded, his voice like grinding stone. “Send the House Guard. Surround Corvin Ashford’s holdings. Search every room, every strongbox, every hidden vault. Leave no stone unturned.”
“By your command.” The guards departed at a run.
Corvin sagged against the stone, staring at nothing. He knew. Everything was finished.
Less than a half-hour passed. The chief guard returned, bearing letters, signet seals, and a captured envoy from House Thornfield -the evidence piled at the Elder’s feet.
The proof was absolute. No defense remained.
The Elder shook with a rage that seemed to age the very stone around him. A coup. A foreign alliance. The

murder of his beloved. All of it -every piece -traced back to the man he had trusted, raised, honored.
“Corvin Ashford. I raised you. I gave you rank, title, the promise of my own daughter’s hand. And THIS is how
you repay me?”
“Guards! Take all three of them -Corvin, Mira, Old Marta -to the Silver Cells. No visitors. No mercy. When the new moon rises, they will face the Final Death.”
The guards moved in. But Corvin ripped free of their grip -one desperate lunge -and crashed to his knees
before me. His face was streaked with tears and snot, his composure shattered into something barely
human. “Seraphina -SAVE ME! For the sake of what we had -we grew up together -you have to save me!”
