My Husband Made Me Give Blood to Her – While I Was Carrying His Baby Chapter 08

Back in Linden Falls, I immersed myself in work. Life at headquarters was demanding but fulfilling, and I settled into a relentless rhythm of working late, sleeping, and beginning again.

Soon afterward, I received the Judgment of Dissolution of Marriage bearing the judge’s signature. Our divorce was final.

A friend from Crestwood called me.

“Ann refused to settle and took Evan to court. He admitted to the assault, but he demanded that she repay every dollar he had lent her. She can’t afford it, and neither of them is willing to back down.”

“Ann’s mental state is getting worse. One day she’s lucid, and the next she doesn’t recognize anyone. All the men who used to follow her around have disappeared.”

I sighed. They had brought everything upon themselves. Their supposedly unbreakable friendship had been built on Evan’s money, and the moment the money stopped flowing, it had fallen apart.

By the end of the year, my team had exceeded every target, and we all received bonuses. At the company’s holiday gala, the vice president invited me to give a speech.

I stood beneath the lights as my colleagues applauded, their faces warm and encouraging.

Half a year earlier, I had been a battered and broken wife, trapped in the cruelty of a man’s social circle. Now I had purpose and direction.

I blinked back tears. “Thank you to the company for giving me this opportunity. I will continue working hard and producing even better results.”

“From now on, I want to shine for myself. I want to stand tall, bloom on my own terms, and build a life in which everything I touch can thrive.”

The company car dropped me at the entrance to my apartment complex, and I walked the rest of the way alone while reflecting on the previous six months.
