At thirty-two, Emily Foster has survived a dozen blind dates and her mother’s decision that an unmarried daughter is a failure. So she sets out for another dinner, this time with Derek, a military commander: handsome, divorced, “probably no kids,” exactly the catch everyone swears she’s lucky to land.
