My Future Self Called Never Choose Those Brothers Chapter 08
My voice shook uncontrollably as I gripped his sleeve. “The car is compromised.”
Dad’s expression turned dead serious.
“How could you possibly know that?”
I couldn’t explain the existence of a timeline from ten years into the future, so I simply held onto him with a white-knuckled grip.
“Dad, just trust me this once. Please.”
Looking at my terror-stricken face, Dad remained silent for a few seconds before finally nodding his head.
“All right.”
Right then, his assistant pushed the study doors open.
“Mr. Winslow, the car is ready downstairs. Adrian Shaw has already arrived at the South Bay site and says the project blueprints require your personal signature immediately.”
Adrian Shaw.
My chest tightened violently.
It was the exact same trap as my past life-Dad hadn’t intended to go originally, but Adrian had called claiming there was an emergency that required his presence.
Back then, I had even encouraged Dad to go, telling him that Adrian was always responsible and must have a valid reason.
And because of that, Dad never came back.
Not this time.
I pulled out my phone and dialed the head of the Winslow private security detail directly.
“Lock down the underground garage immediately. No one is to step within ten feet of the black.
Maybach. Get a certified mechanic to inspect the vehicle right now.”
The assistant’s face shifted with unease.
“Miss Winslow, isn’t this a massive overreaction?”
I turned a lethal glare onto him.
“If the car is fine, I will personally apologize. But if there is a problem, anyone who tries to stop re right now is an accomplice to murder.”
The assistant shut his mouth instantly.
Ten minutes later, the security captain called back, his voice dropped to a tense whisper.
“Miss Winslow, the brake lines have been deliberately sliced. The cut is incredibly fine-it wouldn’t show under normal driving conditions, but the moment the car hits highway speeds, the brakes would fail completely.”
Dad’s face turned absolutely murderous, and my palms broke out in a cold sweat.
We had been seconds away from a complete repetition of the tragedy.
Dad snatched the phone from my hand, his voice vibrating with absolute fury.
“Call the police and pull every camera feed in the building. Don’t let a single soul leave.”
Before the authorities could even arrive on the scene, a security guard burst into the room with an urgent update.
“Sir, a fire just broke out in the surveillance control room! Someone is trying to incinerate the hard
drives!”
Panic flared in my chest, and I sprinted out of the room instantly with Dad screaming my name behind me.
I didn’t stop for a single breath; in my past life, I had been too late for everything, but in this life, I refused to be a second too slow.
When I reached the security hub, thick black smoke was already pouring through the cracks of the door, and the guards were preparing to ram it open.
I covered my nose and mouth, shouting over the chaos.
“Cut the power to the wing first! Go through the side exit and cut off their escape route!”
Within minutes, the guards dragged a choking, ash-covered man out into the corridor.
