My Alpha Said Get Out—So I Did Chapter 02

Liora’s POV

Silas Calder had always been what people called a genius Alpha heir.

Top grades.

Top of every training exercise.

The pack elders spoke of him with nothing but pride.

I was different.

I was average at everything.

As a child, my mother, Marianne, often compared the two of us.

She always said she wished I had half of Silas’s smarts.

I’d protest loudly, “I may not be as smart as him, but I’ve got great ears.

When people call me, I hear them.

Not like Silas—he never listens to anyone.”

Marianne would laugh at that.

She’d raise an eyebrow and tease, “Little Liora, have you ever thought that maybe it’s not that he can’t hear you?

He just doesn’t want to listen to you?”

I didn’t believe her back then.

I’d shake my head firmly.

“No way.

Silas would never treat me like that.”

If he really hated me, then why, when other young wolves bullied me, would he shield me and threaten them: “Anyone who bullies Liora is picking a fight with me.

If you bother her again, you’ll answer for it.”

And when I was mocked for my poor grades—called the stupidest daughter of the Hart Family—why was he the first to step forward and say: “Liora isn’t stupid.

She just hasn’t put her mind to her studies.

I can tutor her.”

But now I finally understood.

Mother was right.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t hear.

My voice had simply never mattered to him.

I got into the car I’d called.

Not long after, Silas sent me a message—a rare occurrence.

He didn’t ask where I’d gone.

He didn’t ask when I was coming back.

Instead, he said: [I locked the door.] [Come back tomorrow.]

Seeing that message, all the bitterness and hurt I’d been holding inside finally broke loose.

Tears burst from my eyes.

The driver, startled by my sudden tears, quickly handed me a tissue.

“Miss, take some advice from an old man.

Whatever’s happened, don’t take it too hard.

Go home, take a good shower, get some sleep.

Tomorrow’s another day.”

I took the tissue and thanked him through my sobs.

He was right.

There’s no hurdle in this world you can’t get past.

Once today passes, tomorrow will still come.

By the time I got back to the Silverpine Pack house, it was already ten at night.

Garrett and Marianne went to bed early.

I didn’t disturb them.

I carried my luggage to my room alone.

It wasn’t until the next morning, when they saw me suddenly there in the house, that their faces filled with shock.

“Liora, when did you get back?”

“Last night.”

I’d cried so much the day before that my voice was hoarse.

My mother picked up on it immediately.

“Did you and Silas have a fight?

That doesn’t seem right.

He’s so cold-natured—how could he get into a fight with you?”

Silas had never fought with me.

The way he looked at me was always indifferent.

When something upset him, he would just look at me in silence.

Because he knew that even if he said nothing at all, I would be the one to bow my head and apologize first.

But this time, I didn’t want to bow my head anymore.

I looked up at Marianne.

My voice was soft, but perfectly clear.

“Mom.

I’m not going to marry Silas anymore.

And all the wedding gifts from the Blackthorne Pack—send them all back.”

Marianne froze.

Garrett frowned.

They kept pressing me for a reason.

I knew I couldn’t avoid it, so I told them the truth.

“I don’t want to marry an Alpha who doesn’t have me in his heart.”

I’m the daughter Garrett and Marianne raised like a treasure in their palms.

The Hart Family has never let me suffer any grievance.

There’s no need for me to choose someone who doesn’t like me and bring a lifetime of misery upon myself.

Marianne had meant to talk me around.

She said, “If Silas didn’t like you, why would he have agreed to go through the bonding ceremony with you?

Liora, you can’t just throw everything away over some small argument—”

I told her about the lullaby Silas had recorded for Tessa.

Marianne’s expression went cold in an instant.

She had even less tolerance for injustice than I did.

She slapped the table.

“Call it off!

It must be called off!

About to be married, and still entangled with his own assistant.

Recording lullabies for her now—who knows what he’ll do next!”

Garrett’s expression was just as grim.

He didn’t ask any further questions.

He just contacted the Blackthorne Pack immediately and had all the wedding gifts from the Calder Family returned.

I wasn’t idle either.

I called the ceremony planner.

But before I could say I wanted to cancel, she spoke first.

“Miss Hart, Alpha Silas has already handed all the bonding ceremony arrangements over to his assistant.

If you have any thoughts, you’ll need to discuss them with Miss Blythe.”

My fingers went rigid.

Then she added, “Also, your custom wedding dress has arrived from overseas.

Alpha Silas said you were unavailable, so he had Miss Blythe try it on first.

I’ll send you the video.

Let us know if you’re satisfied.

If not, there’s still time to make alterations.”

As soon as I hung up, the video arrived.

In the video, Tessa was wearing the wedding dress that was supposed to be mine.

And it fit her perfectly.

She stood before the mirror and flashed a cheerful gesture at the camera.

A staff member beside her adjusted the train and sighed with admiration,

“Mrs. Calder, you look stunning.

This dress looks like it was made just for you.

If Alpha Silas sees you in this, he’ll surely love you even more.”

Tessa smiled and stuck her tongue out playfully at the camera.

“Thank you.

Although, I do wish I really were Mrs. Calder.

It’s just that a certain someone won’t give me the chance.”

Right then, Silas called her.

I didn’t know what he said, but Tessa’s smile grew even brighter.

She put him on speaker.

She said, “I love it.

When I become a bride, I hope I can wear a wedding dress as beautiful as this.”

On the other end, Silas’s voice came through, tinged with a trace of amusement.

“That day will come.”

Hearing that, I dropped the idea of canceling the bonding ceremony.

Since Silas was so fond of his Omega assistant, I might as well give them my blessing.
