I Borrowed Money From My Bullies Before Faking My Death Chapter 11

Knox called for a new car. Drove me back himself.

He spent the whole ride cursing out Asher. “He smiles like an angel and acts like a psycho. Literally insane. What the hell was that today?”

My head leaned against the window. I was half-asleep.

Between driving, his fingers tapped the wheel. He glanced sideways at me.

Then out of nowhere. “Have we met before?”

I snapped awake. Shook my head so hard it nearly spun. “Absolutely not!”

His eyes narrowed. “You sure you’re not some ex-girlfriend?”

Come on.

Someone once joked I was Knox’s little girlfriend. He was so disgusted he lost his appetite for a week. And guess who suffered? Me. He made me cook for him every single day.

I steered the conversation. “That Delilah girl. She seems really into Silas?”

Knox took a second to place the name.

Then he grunted. “She’s lasted the longest so far.”

“Oh…” I paused. “Silas doesn’t come home much?”

“He stays at his townhouse near the office.”

“So you guys don’t see each other often?”

“Not really.” Knox’s voice dropped. “What exactly are you getting at?”

Not often?

Then how was I supposed to get to Silas?

I straightened up, dead serious. “I want a stable job. Can you get me a janitor position at Silas’ company?”

Silence.

Absolute silence.

Only the hum of the car on the road.

“Janitor,” Knox finally said, “or his mistress?”

He’d pulled into the underground garage. Engine off.

Knox turned. His deep eyes cut into me, cold.

I raised three fingers. Swore it. “Janitor.”

He grabbed my chin. Thumb brushed lightly.

“Doesn’t matter what you call it. He won’t want you either way.” Knox’s voice was flat. He swung his long legs out of the car.
