My Husband Made Me Give Blood to Her – While I Was Carrying His Baby Chapter 06

[Summer’s POV]

Back in Linden Falls, I could not sleep. Whenever I finally drifted off, I dreamed about the first time I met Evan.

I had just graduated and had fought with my family over my career. In response, they had cut me off financially.

Weak from hunger, I collapsed in the snow while walking to a part-time job.

When I regained consciousness, a boy was watching me.

“You’re awake?” His worried frown softened into a smile. “I saw you collapse, so I brought you in here.”

He stood before me with the light behind him, so handsome that I could not look away. Then he pulled a takeout container filled with warm soup from his backpack.

When he smiled, a dimple appeared in his cheek. My face grew hot, and my heart began to race.

After that, I kept inventing reasons to be near him. We gradually became close, and our marriage had once seemed inevitable.

Now those memories made me wake in tears. I gave up trying to sleep and threw myself into work instead, learning everything as quickly as I could.

My hard work paid off when I secured my first major deal.

After the celebration dinner, I saw a familiar figure waiting outside my apartment.

I tried to walk past him, but Evan grabbed my arm.

He looked haggard, with dark circles under his eyes, stubble covering his jaw, and his shoulders slumped beneath the weight of exhaustion.

“Summer,” he rasped. “I made a terrible mistake. I’ve cut ties with all those friends. Let’s start over. I’ll treat you properly this time. We can have another baby, okay?”

He still believed our marriage could be repaired.

I gave him a cold, contemptuous smile. “So you do care about the child I carried. You forced me to provide blood for Ann’s transfusion even though I was anemic. She deliberately dropped that soup and burned my leg. You ran after her, and later you shoved me onto broken glass without even looking back.”

“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry,” he stammered.

“I told you the truth again and again because I wanted to believe your promises. I kept hurting myself for your sake, and this was what I received in return.”

I tore my arm from his grasp.

“Summer, when did you end the pregnancy?” he asked, his voice breaking.

I smiled without warmth. “Immediately after I provided blood for your precious Ann’s transfusion, while you stayed beside her hospital bed for three days.”

The pain on his face gave me no satisfaction. I was simply exhausted.

He dropped to his knees before me. “Summer, please give me one more chance. I’ll work hard, give you a beautiful wedding, and build a family with you. We can still be happy.”

I felt nothing except disgust.

“We’re finished, Evan. Our marriage should have ended the first time you decided that my feelings did not matter.”

Then I turned and walked away.
