A Donna Unclaimed chapter 04
“Mom!”
I shouted with all my strength, even though I knew my voice might not leave the room.
“Mom, don’t get the door!”
My mother quickly appeared at my bedroom doorway. The moment she saw the blood on me and on the floor, she immediately understood what had happened.
She went to the fridge, grabbed some ice, and pressed it against my nose to stop the bleeding.
The doorbell rang again. My mother moved to answer it, but I grabbed her wrist.
“Don’t. It might be Griffin. I can’t let him see me like this. Please, Mom.”
She nodded, “I’ll tell him to leave.”
“No!” I shook my head. “Can you ask him to wait a little? I’ll stop the bleeding soon. Please.”
My mother looked at me for a moment, then walked out of the room.
I pressed hard on my nose, desperately wiping away tears that wouldn’t stop falling.
Neither the nosebleed nor my tears would stop.
Soon, my mother returned and said calmly, “It was just a delivery. Griffin hasn’t arrived yet.”
I let out a breath of relief. With her help, I took my medication, stopped the bleeding, and changed out of the bloodstained clothes.
By the time everything was ready, Griffin still hadn’t come.
They were an hour later than expected.
My mother was visibly unhappy, but after I spoke to her for a long time, she managed to hide it.
When we got into the car, Vivian looked at me with a sweet smile.
“Sorry, Rosa. Last night Griffin was being a bit too playful… we stayed up too late, so I couldn’t get out of bed this morning.”
My hands tightened slightly.
Griffin, who had stored my wheelchair and taken the driver’s seat, glanced at me through the rearview mirror before saying coldly to Vivian, “Why are you explaining this to her?”
A faint bitterness rose in my chest, but I still calmly waved goodbye to my mother outside the window.
Soon, we arrived at our destination.
When I got out of the car, it was Griffin who lifted me.
For a brief moment, I was back in his arms, and I almost couldn’t hold back my tears.
But he quickly set me down into the wheelchair. As soon as he did, he looked disgusted and immediately asked Vivian for two wet wipes, scrubbing his hands as if he couldn’t stand it.
Vivian awkwardly explained to me,
“Sorry, Rosa. Griffin has OCD. He can’t stand physical contact with other women… only me.”
I lowered my head, pretending not to see Griffin’s actions or hear Vivian’s words.
After that, Griffin and Vivian linked arms and pushed me into a Mexican restaurant.
As soon as we sat down, Griffin took the menu and ordered several spicy dishes.
Listening to the dishes he named, a dull ache spread through my chest.
Because I never ate spicy food back then. Griffin didn’t either. So it was obvious who he was ordering for now.
I didn’t make things difficult for myself. At this point, even eating was hard for me, let alone spicy food. So I simply asked the waiter to add a light vegetable soup for me.
But for some reason, Griffin suddenly snapped.
“You’re already skinny enough to look like a ghost. And you’re still trying to diet?”
“I just held you—it felt like I was holding a pile of bones.”
His sudden concern made my chest tighten with a sharp, bitter ache.
But only for a moment. Then I smiled faintly.
“Alvaro likes me to be thinner.”
