One Year Dead, I Decide to Visit My Boyfriend in a Dream Chatper 07

I’d originally planned to ask the Dream Keeper to let me see Ryan.

But Greg’s words stopped me.

The Dream Keeper said: the living and dead are separate.

Greg said: dead is dead.

Was I just prolonging his pain by clinging to him?

After that day, I forced myself to stop seeing Ryan.

Lost without direction, I stopped trying and just lay in my tomb all day.

During that time, the Dream Keeper came to see me once. He frowned at my state and said. “Haven’t seen you in so long, I thought you’d reincarnated. Good to know you’re still dead, though.”

Then he noticed how lifeless I was and couldn’t help but add. “What? Went bankrupt?”

I swear I heard amusement in his tone.

I had no friends in the Heaven community. I’d rushed into making money as soon as I arrived. The Dream Keeper was one of the few I could talk to.

I couldn’t hold it in anymore. “I think I have to break up with him.”

The Dream Keeper tensed. “Fell out with your supplier? Then all that money you spent was wasted.”

He still remembered my excuse from the beginning.

I laughed bitterly and said. “He’s my boyfriend.”

I told him everything. “You were right. I just want to see him. I’m the one who can’t accept being dead. Mason… do you think I was wrong?”

“If you have plenty of Heaven Coins, just see him. What’s wrong with visiting him until he’s old?”

“But you said the living and dead are separate, that it’s all fake?”

“That’s just what I tell poor ghosts.”

The Dream Keeper thought for a moment. “I’ve worked in the Heaven community for so many years, and I’ve really never met anyone like you. Everyone knows they’ll reincarnate eventually. Very few fight so hard even after they die.”

He mumbled. “If I could earn as many Heaven Coins as you, I’d visit my wife and son in dreams every day. Even if it’s fake…”

“Aren’t you afraid of messing up their lives and making them stuck on you?”

“What if you’re their reason to keep going?”

The Dream Keeper’s words pulled me out of my confusion.

Right. I could earn plenty of Heaven Coins. What was wrong with seeing my man legally?

But would Ryan still want to see me?

What if he kept taking sleeping pills just to meet me?

Just as I hesitated and couldn’t decide, I received a package from Ryan.

Inside was a handwritten letter.

To My Dearest Wife,

Today is the second anniversary of your death. I still haven’t waited for you to come into my dreams.

In the days right after you left, I hated you. I hated you for leaving so decisively. But I hated myself even more—for failing to protect you.

The first time you appeared in my dream, I thought it was just an illusion. Why would you ask me for things like that? But I still ordered everything you listed and sent it to you. A few days later, you came again. I was overjoyed. You still had a conscience, finding a way to see me.

Suddenly, life had meaning again.

But you’ve disappeared these days.

I’m begging you—please come see me once in a while, okay?

Forever yours,

Ryan

P.S. When I ordered these things today, the shop owner messaged me asking if I was a fellow supplier and offered to cooperate. After chatting for a long time, I actually managed to knock 20% off the total price. I never imagined I’d end up in this business.

Tears welled up in my eyes, but I held them back and laughed.

Ryan had been a top student in school and an elite after graduation. Upright and proper—he never would have bought these things if it weren’t for me.

I read the letter twice more before carefully folding it and putting it in my pocket.

I exhaled.

My anxious heart finally settled.
