He Made Me Fight His Champion Best Friend, Then Begged Me to Come Home Chapter 06
Nathaniel stood frozen in the middle of the room. The space was in complete disarray.
But there was no one there. Only a large pool of blood on the floor. And handprints dragged through it, as if someone had tried to crawl away.
His breath caught in his throat. Blood?
A tightness spread through his chest.
He turned abruptly and left the room, dialing Sierra immediately.
“Sierra. Where is Emily Harrison?”
“What did you do last night? Why is there blood in the room?”
On the other end, Sierra sounded confused.
“Blood? Maybe she’s just pretending to be injured again to get money.”
“We played the game and left after that. She didn’t even seem upset.”
Nathaniel exhaled slowly. Relief almost set in.
He thought back to the boxing incident. Emily had also “acted” like she was hurt then.
This time… it must be the same. Just another one of her tricks.
But even as he told himself that, unease lingered.
As he stepped outside, his phone rang. It had to be Emily.
He answered immediately.
“Emily, where did you—”
“Mr. Whitmore,” a voice cut in. “Ms. Harrison was in a car accident last night. She passed away at 3:00 a.m.”
Nathaniel stopped walking. His mind went completely blank.
His hand began to shake uncontrollably.
“No,” he snapped. “That’s impossible. She was with Sierra and the others all night. She couldn’t have been outside.”
“Find out who is spreading this lie,” he barked. “Is Emily trying to scam me again? Using fake news to get my attention?”
But the voice on the other end hesitated.
“Sir… we’ve already confirmed it. We went to the hospital immediately after the report. The body is… severely damaged.”
No. Impossible.
Emily couldn’t be dead.
He couldn’t hear anything after that. He got in the car and drove straight to the hospital.
The moment he arrived, his legs nearly gave out.
He forced himself forward. And then he saw it.
The body. A familiar tattoo on the wrist. Their couple tattoo.
The one he had designed himself. Unique. Irreplaceable.
It was now the only thing confirming her identity.
“How… how could it be Emily…”
Nathaniel clutched his hair, shaking violently. Then suddenly, he grabbed the assistant by the collar.
“Find out what happened,” he roared. “I want to know exactly how she got into that accident!”
Half an hour later, the assistant returned with surveillance footage and audio files.
Nathaniel listened.
Sierra’s voice came through clearly, planning the crash, laughing, treating it like a game.
Then the footage showed it. The impact. Emily’s body thrown into chaos in an instant.
Nathaniel’s eyes turned red, but his expression went eerily calm. Then he stood up.
He was going to make sure Sierra paid for what she did.
But when he reached the door and pushed it open, he stopped.
Voices from inside. Laughter.
Sierra’s voice, light and amused.
“Nathaniel is so easy to fool. He believes whatever I say.”
“I told him Emily’s grandmother wasn’t even sick, just showed him a video, and he bought it.”
“Meanwhile, her grandmother actually died in his own hospital.”
Nathaniel’s grip on the door handle tightened until his knuckles turned white.
Inside, Sierra continued talking with her friends.
Then, the door slammed open. Her phone dropped to the floor.
Sierra jumped back, her face draining of color.
“N–Nathan… don’t believe that. It was just a joke. I was just kidding…”
