My Husband Made Me Give Blood to Her – While I Was Carrying His Baby Chapter 01
[Summer’s POV]
I had been pregnant for two months when Evan Mitchell asked me to provide the blood his childhood sweetheart, Ann Parker, needed for a transfusion.
I was already anemic, so I refused, my eyes burning with tears. His friends immediately accused me of being selfish.
“Ann’s in the OR, and you’re the only one with the right blood type. What’s the big deal?”
They grabbed me and forced me inside to have my blood drawn for Ann’s transfusion.
Guilt flickered across Evan’s face, but he still said, “It’s only a little blood for her transfusion. Our baby will be fine.”
I stopped struggling as a tear slid down my cheek.
Once it was over, I dragged myself to the hospital’s OB-GYN department and had an abortion.
I spent three days in the hospital alone while Evan remained at Ann’s side.
My womb was empty, and one thought would not leave me: That was my child.
When I was discharged, I ran into Ann and Evan outside with their entire group of friends.
I carried my own backpack while Ann leaned on Evan’s arm.
Evan saw me and froze. “Why are you still here?”
“Nothing.” I said nothing about the abortion and walked past him, my face pale.
“Let’s go together.” Evan grabbed my arm, leaving no room for argument.
When we reached the car, Ann immediately slipped into the passenger seat. She turned her watery, innocent eyes on me.
“Summer, I just had surgery for a stomach ulcer, and I get carsick. Can I have this seat?”
I did not bother arguing and opened the back door.
His friends piled in after me, leaving three large men crammed into the back seat beside me.
They glared at me. “Summer, Ann’s still weak. We’re all coming to your place to take care of her.”
I watched Evan from the back seat. His jaw tightened, but he said nothing.
I watched them in silence and let out a cold laugh as the cicadas shrieked outside.
Why did I still expect anything from this man?
His friends had never liked me. In their eyes, Ann and Evan were the perfect couple, and I was the villain who had come between them.
Whenever they came over, they treated me like a servant, and Evan never defended me.
Even while I was carrying his child, they had forced me to provide blood for Ann’s transfusion.
They had never thanked me. They had merely said, “You should be honored.”
It was not the first time they had humiliated me, but it was the first time I accepted what their behavior truly meant.
“Fine. I’ll go by myself.”
I shut the door and walked away.
It was rush hour, and I could not get a ride-share. In the brutal summer heat, immediately after an abortion, I walked beneath the blazing sun for an hour.
By the time I reached home, they were already there, waiting to criticize me.
“Summer, what took you so long? We’ve been waiting forever.”
“I’ve haven’t eaten all day. We want your cooking again.”
I looked at Evan and Ann. The apartment was sweltering because they were afraid the air-conditioning would make the fragile Ann sick.
Evan sat beside her, fanning her with a handheld fan while sweat ran down his forehead. He waited on her hand and foot.
Kevin Reed called out, “Evan, we’re starving. Tell Summer to make us something.”
Evan finally looked up. Ignoring my pale face, he spoke as though ordering me around were perfectly natural.
“Summer, be a dear and make us a simple meal. Cook some soup for Ann too. She needs it to recover.”
My chest tightened until I could barely breathe.
