She Locked Me In Basements And Called It Love Called It Training Chapter 06

Looking down at the body half-buried in the fresh snow drifts, I silently floated to the side, unable to speak.

I looked truly horrible. The force of the avalanche had been immense, dragging my body from the rocky middle ledge all the way down to the base of the mountain.

My physical remains were completely unrecognizable. Several park staff members took one look and immediately turned away to gag.

Mom covered her nose and took several steps back. “Thank goodness our Audrey didn’t go climbing near that area. Imagine how traumatizing that would be.”

She intentionally blocked Audrey from stepping forward. “Don’t look at that. The body is completely torn to pieces. You don’t need that kind of bad luck rubbing off on you.”

Then, she added with a sneer, “Honestly, we should force Lily to come down here and look at this. Maybe then she’d realize what happens when you run away like a brat.”

Only Dad stood with a deep scowl, stepping forward to pull a responding medic aside. “Has the identity been confirmed yet?”

The forensic technician arriving at the scene shook his head gravely. “The trauma to the body is severe. We can’t make a definitive identification without a proper autopsy. But it’s devastating—the poor girl took multiple massive impacts from an extreme height. I don’t know what the parents were thinking, letting a kid handle extreme sports with such heavily damaged equipment.”

“What did you just say?” Dad gasped, his voice cracking. “Where did she fall from?”

“The bungee platform,” the technician replied, pointing to the mangled straps still clinging to the fabric of my coat. “The gear matches the park’s inventory.”

Dad’s entire body violently shuddered. His legs gave out beneath him, and he dropped heavily into the snow.

He recognized me instantly.

“Lily! Oh god, my sweet girl!” he sobbed hysterically, grabbing the medic’s jacket. “Please, try to save her… maybe there’s still a chance… please…”

His voice trailed off into a broken whisper as reality set in.

The moment Audrey heard Dad’s cries, she completely lost control. Breaking away from Mom’s grip, she charged forward like a wild animal, collapsing into the snow right beside my body.

With trembling fingers, she gently brushed away the snow covering my neck.

There, resting against my collarbone, was the little silver cat charm necklace. It was the token I had begged her to buy for me after the stray kitten disappeared.

“Lily… I’m so sorry…” Audrey screamed, her agonizing shrieks echoing across the silent, snowy field. “I should have taken you with me… you shouldn’t have had to suffer through this…”

Through all of this, Mom remained standing several yards away, her face entirely blank.

She seemed completely paralyzed.

After a long time, she took two halting steps forward, whispering to herself, “No… that’s impossible. That’s not Lily. It can’t be.”

“The park staff must have made a mistake,” she muttered loudly, her eyes reddening as she tried to pull Dad away from the body. “Why are you crying? This isn’t her! You don’t even know the facts before you start—”

Before she could finish, Dad spun around and delivered a brutal backhand, snapping her head to the side.

“You monster!” he roared. “Lily is dead because of you!”

“The build matches her perfectly, she has the exact same leg injury, and you’re still standing there telling me this isn’t Lily? Then tell me who the hell this is!”

Mom’s head snapped to the side, blood dripping from her lips. “There are thousands of girls with that exact same build! And the leg could just be a horrific coincidence!”

Desperate, she raised the walkie-talkie and jammed her finger onto the call button. “If the signal connects, we can trace Lily’s location! That will prove she’s still alive!”

The next second, a bystander pointed toward the snow drift, shouting, “Look! There’s a red light flashing inside the jacket!”
