The Principessa Bought a Genius Boyfriend Chapter 07
I was pretty confused.
When Rosa tossed the bouquet, I was distracted and missed it.
The bouquet landed right in Vincent’s hands.
The emcee said, “Congratulations to the gentleman who caught the bouquet! Good things are coming your way. Are you gonna give this to your girlfriend?”
“No need for that.”
Vincent walked straight toward me.
And held out the bouquet.
The whole room cheered, the noise was so loud it almost blew the roof off. Even Rosa was screaming.
I didn’t know whether to take it or not.
“Vincent, you already met my fiancé.”
Even if it was a lie.
“I don’t believe your taste got that bad.”
“Maybe my taste is bad.”
“Fine, even if he’s real.” Vincent leaned slightly in, his mouth next to my ear. “Then just leave him. Come back to me.”
His deep voice was like a spell, thick with temptation.
I almost gave in.
I was that close.
Even after all these years, Vincent still fit exactly everything I’d ever found attractive.
After the ceremony, all my old classmates came over to drink with me.
I accidentally drank too much.
The next thing I remembered was that I snuck off and sat in the stairwell.
No matter how loud the party was outside, the stairwell was always the quietest place.
Vincent found me. “What are you doing in here?”
I turned around, pouted at him.
And burst out crying.
“Vincent, I’m so tired.”
Vincent offered to take me home. I cried the whole way, couldn’t even walk. After we got out of the car, he picked me up bridle-style.
“I’m so tired. I have to work every single day. When is this ever gonna end?”
“Yesterday a customer spilled an entire drink all over me. It was so unfair, it wasn’t even my fault.
“Vincent, I want salmon and sweet shrimp. Wooooo, I can barely even remember what they taste like.”
The alcohol made my words all messy. Vincent patiently tried to comfort me, but I couldn’t hear a word he said.
The last thing I remembered was him laying me down on his couch.
He asked me, “What’s so good about that guy anyway?”
I mumbled half asleep, “He pays off my debts.”
“I can do that too, Isabella.
“I’m better than him. I know what you like and what you hate, I know how to make you happy.
“Isabella, I’m begging you, please don’t disappear again, okay?”
After that, I didn’t remember anything at all.
The next morning, I woke up in Vincent’s bed.
I was completely naked.
The dining table was covered in sashimi, all different kinds. There was also a plate of oranges, cut into evenly sized slices.
Vincent said, “I called your boss and took the day off for you. You don’t have to go to work today.”
“Oh.”
When I sat down, I suddenly jumped back up.
“You called my boss to take the day off for me?”
“Yeah.”
“You talked to my manager??”
“What’s wrong with that?”
“He’s gonna get the wrong idea!!”
“Everything between you and me is real. What’s there to get wrong?”
I had nothing to say to that.
He bent his head and carefully peeled the shrimp shells, dipped them in sauce, and put them in my bowl.
Just like he used to.
He always carefully peeled every single shrimp for me, just like that.
After breakfast, I needed to go back to my place. I didn’t let Vincent walk me out.
I was zoning out on the subway, when I suddenly got a text from Aurora.
[Isabella, don’t break Vincent’s heart again, okay?]
I texted back. [What do you mean?]
[All these years, he’s actually been wanting to pay you back this whole time.]
[Pay me back for what?]
[The debt, duh.]
Aurora sent a screenshot.
Vincent said in a private group chat. [All paid off. What a relief.]
Everyone else was congratulating him.
[Finally got that big weight off your shoulders.]
[You’re free mentally now, lol.]
I was still staring at my phone in confusion when a debt notification text popped up.
[Your outstanding balance has been paid in full. Payer: Vincent.]
All the blood in my body turned to ice.
My hand holding the phone wouldn’t stop shaking.
Thinking back on everything—
Vincent looking for me like crazy.
After we reunited, he promoted me, gave me a raise.
Everything he said, everything he did.
Even last night.
So it was all just to pay back the debt!
That was all it was!
