I Borrowed Money From My Bullies Before Faking My Death Chapter 15
My eyes lit up.
Asher noticed instantly. “What is it?”
System went on, [Congratulations, Host. You have successfully escaped the tragic fate of the side character. One hundred million dollars has been deposited.]
I dropped my gaze, hiding the wild surge of emotion.
I cleared my throat. “That money I borrowed from you guys. I’ll pay it back. With interest.”
I didn’t know why.
But the second those words left my mouth, the whole house went even quieter.
Silas asked, “You’re leaving again?”
How did he do that?
Every instinct screamed at me to deny it.
“No, it’s just… debts should be repaid. It’s only right.” I forced an awkward laugh.
Knox’s voice was hard. “Don’t pay it.”
“I have to.”
“Don’t.”
“I have to.”
He shot back instantly. “Then pay me back with you.”
Excuse me?
Asher chimed in, “Psycho.”
Silas looked at Knox with cold disgust. “Sick.
Knox didn’t care. His careless mask was completely gone. Something complicated burned in his eyes. He asked the question. “Josie. Where have you been all these years?”
Where had I been?
Traveling the world. Thanks to the System. Waiting for the right moment to come back and finish my final role as the doomed side character.
I cleared my throat again. “I was sick. Went away for treatment.”
Asher frowned. “That’s why you’re thinner.”
Silas’s voice dropped low. “Is that true?”
Of course. The oldest one was the hardest to fool.
Knox stared at me. “A few days ago, you followed me. Was that because you got better and… missed me?”
Asher’s face twisted in disbelief. “She followed you?”
I was choked up.
Knox grabbed my hand. “What I did before was wrong. I didn’t remember. But honestly… even without my memories, you were different.”
Silas cut in, icy. “Shut up.”
They were about to start again. I jumped in fast. “I’m tired. Can we do this tomorrow? Please?”
Knox started to argue.
Asher cut him off. “You don’t care about her at all. Get lost.”
Knox continued, “Josie, that room you’re in isn’t good enough. Let me move you to a better one.”
“Fine. Whatever.”
I followed Knox upstairs. Glanced back once.
Asher gave me a slow smile. Still hadn’t left.
And Silas. Those deep eyes were pinned on me.
Something deep moved behind them.
